Affymetrix was building a museum to feature the DNA micro-array they had developed in the 1980's and commissioned Lenehan Architectural Glass to design and fabricate a hanging "chip" using their micro-array as inspiration.

The client was looking for the piece to cast beautiful color across their museum as the sun moved across the south facing facade.

The 16 panels of 1/2" starphire glass, each laminated with 225 pieces of antique blown glass, are suspended from the ceiling on aluminum struts.
